On My Honor by Marion Dane Bauer

On My Honor by Marion Dane Bauer is about two boys, Joel and Tony.  Tony and Joel are always trying to challenge each other, and one day it goes too far.  Joel loves to swim and that’s all he wants to do with Tony.  On their way to climb a mountain Tony decides they can go swimming in the most dangerous river!  Tony and Joel have a competition to swim out to the sand bank and that’s when Joel finds out that Tony really can’t swim.  This is the kind of story you cannot put down!  if you like intense books,  I would recommend this story.

While Joel and best friend Tony ride up to the mountain on their bikes, Tony decides he wants to go swimming … but not in a pool, in the lake they are forbidden to go in.  Joel challenges Tony to a race all the way to the sandbar in the middle of the lake, when Joel looks back after reaching the sand bar he can't find Tony.  Later that night Joel hears a car door thud across the street.  He peeks through  the window. "It’s the cops!" How will he face them with the truth?  Read On my honor by Marion Dane Bauer, to find out what happens next.

  1. I love this book. It is one of my favorites. I find it to be very realistic. I can understand how frightening the situation was. I can also understand how peer pressure can sometimes make you do something against your better judgement. Have you ever seen someone influenced by peer pressure?
