House of Robots by James Patterson

House of Robots by James Patterson is about a kid named Sammy who lives with robots. He is very unhappy that he has to live with robots but the one he hates the most is E. Sammy’s mom is making him go to school with E. One day when Sammy comes home he sees a box next to his door and when he opens it he finds parts of E. Sammy decides to have all the other robots try to find who destroyed  E. Will they ever find out who destroyed E? Read the book to find out.

I really liked this book. I liked it because the main character is funny. It reminds me of real life because some people get bullied a lot in school like Sammy does. I would recommend this book because it is very funny and exciting.

Big Nate Lives It Up by Lincoln Peirce

Big Nate Lives It Up by Lincoln Peirce is funny and it’s about friends in middle school. There’s a kid named Nate and he’s in middle school and he has two best friends. A new kid comes to school and the principal wants him to show the new kid around and wants Nate to be the new kid's friend. Nate also thinks the new kid is weird because he likes plants. Then Nate thinks he remembers him. He keeps on thinking he knows him from before but he’s not sure. At the end he remembers who he is. You can find out the rest in the book.  

I like this book because it’s in school and a situation can happen like this in real life. I relate to this book because I have friends and they’re funny. I also like art like he does. So I would recommend this book to my friends.

The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien

The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien is about a hobbit named Bilbo Baggins who goes on an adventure with a wizard named Gandalf The Grey and some dwarfs. He wants to find the arkenstone in a mountain filled with gold and jewels. A huge dragon named Smaug protects the gold and jewels in the lonely mountain. In the middle of the story Bilbo gets captured by giants and escapes. He also gets a sword named Sting which he brings with him on his adventure. Read to find out about the events in the story.  

I connected to this book because I like fantasy books full of adventure.  I liked the book because of the huge amount of adventure and massive creatures like giant spiders and giants, plus a dragon. I think a lot of people will like this book.

Rain Reign by Ann M. Martin

I read Rain Reign by Ann M Martin over the holiday break. It was a great book and is one of the RICBA Nominees for 2016. The story is about a girl named Rose Howard, she has Asperger's Syndrome, which is a form of Autism. Basically, she's very smart, she just thinks differently then other kids her age. For example, she loves homonyms and keeps a written list of all the ones she can think of. She also loves prime numbers and sometimes when she's nervous she recites prime numbers to help her feel more in control. Unfortunately Rose is just a kid, so there are a lot of things in life that are out of her control. She sometimes has trouble in school, and at home it's just her and her Dad. Her Dad has his own problems with control, which can be scary for Rose (and the reader). Luckily Rose has a best friend, (Rain, her dog), a terrific Uncle, and a sympathetic teacher. They all play a role in helping Rose deal with her problems.

This really was a very good book, emotional and surprisingly uplifting. Rose Howard is a character that you will really care about. This would be a great book to read out loud for mature students.

Visser by K.A. Applegate

That is no Andalite on the front cover, that’s Visser Three! Even though he’s on the front cover Visser by K.A. Applegate is actually about deadly Visser One finding earth and wanting to take it over! These guys, Visser one, and Visser Three are actually Yeerks. Yeerks are slugs that go in through your ear into your head and then flatten on your brain and take over your body! Just open up this book and find out why Yeerks take over your body and more. You might want to read the book before you judge it by its cover.

  I love this book. I think it is really good because I like aliens, science fiction, and things like that. I cannot relate to the book unless i’m alive in 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 years when aliens invade earth and try to enslave us all. If you want to know more you should read this awesome book! While you’re at it, make sure to read more of the Animorphs series!
