Dog Man by Dav Pilkey

In the book Dog Man by Dav Pilkey, George and Harold are thinking of a new comic to write and they come up with dog man. Dog Man is part human and part dog. He turned into this because he was hunting a criminal with his human friend and the criminal set down dynamite and blew them up. The doctors said the only way he would survive is if they put the dog’s head on the human’s body. Dog Man fights crime with his super sense and he also has super strength.

I thought this book was funny and fun to read. It is a graphic novel. The pictures are meant to look like a 9 year old drew them, because George and Harold are 9 and 8. And did you know that Dav Pilkey wrote the Captain Underpants books?

The Detention Club by David Yoo

In The Detention Club by David Yoo, Peter and his friend Drew try to get popular.  They have many failed attempts and his sister always mocks him.  Peter’s sister Sunny is like the queen of the school. She is also very smart.  They have a very bad relationship and when they take T.A.G class together, Peter thought of a great invention.  Everyone was expecting Sunny to win like always, but what you find out next is shocking.  When Peter finds out there is a school thief on the loose he takes advantage to try to get popular again.  Once you find out who the school thief is, you will be flabbergasted.  Who do you think the thief is?  Will Peter’s plan work?  Do you think Peter and Drew are going to get popular?

I love how the author made this book a very funny book.  I may not love reading but this was a very great book and made me want to read more.  It was very funny and very suspenseful.  This book is full of joy, excitement, and anger.  This book can also be relatable to people like me. I am a great collector and I love to show people my findings.  This book is great book and I recommend you read it.

Real Friends by Shannon Hale and Leuyen Pham

The book Real Friends is a really good book. The authors are Shannon Hale and Leuyen Pham. It is about a girl who doesn't want to go to school because she did not know anybody. Read to find out what happens next. Will she go in to school or stay home with her mom? I hope you like it. It’s really good.

I like this book because it tells you what real friends are about. I love how it has a lot of detail and information. It actually reminds me of when I went to this school and did not know anyone. That is what I like about this book.

Ghosts by Raina Telgemeier

Ghosts by Raina Telgemeier is about a girl who is sick. Her name is Maya and her family had moved to California. Maya has an older sister and her name is Catrina, but some people call her Cat for a nickname. When they moved, Catrina and Maya went for a walk. They went to the beach. Then they saw an arcade and Catrina lost Maya. When she went to find her, she saw that she was playing with a ghost. Catrina told her to come to her, but Maya did not. Instead she started coughing because she was sick. Will Maya be okay?

I like this book because it is funny and it is one of my favorite books. I think it is also a little sad, because the girls see all their grandparents who are now ghosts. I also like it because it is about a Day of the Dead celebration, which is the day after Halloween, and that is one of my favorite holidays. But otherwise it is a really good book.

I thought this book was amazing. It made me feel like I was in the book imagining stuff but I wasn't in the pictures. I recommend you read this book because it is inspiring. It´s inspiring because it made me think about getting along with my sister and I thought, “Oh, I don’t really get along with my sister! The Elementia Chronicles : Book Two, The New Order by Sean Fry Wolfe

In The Elementia Chronicles : Book Two, The New Order by Sean Fry Wolfe, the plot or problem is that there is a bad group of people who keep attacking the city where everybody lives. The group is mad because the lower level players are also in the city. They're more powerful and they want to kick them out.

My book reminds me of my old school, where if you were new you could not hang out with certain people, which was dumb. One time the older students that had been there longer, beat up the newer kids. I was one of the new kids. Read this book to find out what happens.

He gets his bags stolen and finds the person who did it. He feels bad for her. An extraordinary fire starts in Chicago and sets the house on fire with a little girl and boy in the house.

Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life by James Patterson

The plot of Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life by James Patterson, is about a boy named Rafe Khatchadorian. Rafe is going through middle school, which as you can tell by the title does not go very well for him.  Rafe is a very artistic kid that was born into a family with an annoying, nosey sister named Georgia, a loving and caring mom named Jules, and a mean, nasty, and sloppy dad that he calls Bear. Rafe has a plan that is an acronym for Rafe (rules aren't for everyone). Rafe’s plan is to try to break every rule in one year. Will he be able to do it or will he fail?

I loved this book. I really like the author’s imagination, and the outrageous characters. When reading the book you should really take your time to understand the characters and look at the pictures. Most readers will be around middle school age, but they will still find how true and funny this book is. If I had to rate this book I would give it a good 9, because although it's an amazing book, like any book it has its’ flaws, but those flaws are really tiny and you should still read the book.

A Whole New Ballgame by Phil Bildner

In the book, A Whole New Ballgame by Phil Bildner, two kids, Rip and Red who are best friends start a new school year.  Fifth Grade!  They are not only looking forward to a new school year, but a chance to play for the basketball team. They are expecting their homeroom teacher to be Mrs. Hamburger, but it is some guy named Mr. Avecedo.  He is covered in cool tattoos and a bunch of nose rings.  When they get to the gym for tryouts, they realize who their basketball coach is - Read more to find out who the coach is.
I liked a lot of things about the book.  But one of the reasons I really liked the book was that I really like basketball and the book is mainly about two kids loving the sport of basketball.  Also another thing I really liked was how the story sort of had unexpected middles and an unexpected ending. If you know me, you wouldn’t be surprised that I picked this book.

During summer vacation a kid named Lucas and his babysitter named Geniveive have to watch Lucas’s brothers named Marius and Marcus. One time both Marius and Marcus stepped in a container of paint and when they got out of the paint, the paint got all over the grass in the lawn. Afterwards the brother’s got inside and Lucas gave them a bath. One time Marius climbed under the seats at the movie and Lucas and Genevieve had to find Marius. Summer of Bad Ideas by Kiera Stewart

The book Summer of Bad Ideas, by Kiera Stewart is about two cousins Edith and Rae. Edith is a well behaved girl and obeys the rules. Rae is daring and outgoing and does not obey the rules. They were on vacation in a swamp in an old house that their grandma had when she was alive. No one has been in the house in 4 years. They sneak out and they need to complete daring tasks. Will they survive, will they fail or will they make it through the list?

I love the way the author includes suspense, it kept me off my seat. I could not stop reading the book. I like how the author includes very good details in the story. The story reminds me of when I had to complete a “to do” list for summer a couple of  years ago and I completed it.  Read the book to find out what the rest of the list is.

Nate tries to distract Arthur.  Will it work? Nate tries really hard to catch up. Will he catch up or will Arthur win the skateboard?

I like this book because it is funny. The author puts a lot of detail in the story about Nate and how he tries to sell things. This book reminds me of Zinkoff from the book Loser, because when Nate rides his skateboard off the bridge, it's like when Zinkoff trips over his own feet, and falls down.

The book Big Nate On A Roll by Lincoln Peirce is about a kid named Nate. Nate got in trouble for nothing. The thing he got in trouble for was he was in charge of holding the ladder for this kid Arthur.  Arthur dripped paint in Nate's eyes. They both fell over. But Arthur fell on top of Nate and Nate got in trouble. Arthur did not get in trouble.

I connect with the book Big Nate because in the beginning he gets in trouble for nothing. This is just like me. I do nothing and I always get in trouble for nothing with my little brother. But after all of that, I really liked the book. Nate always gets in trouble, but he always makes it better with his plans.

The Great Gilly Hopkins by Katherine Paterson, is a book about  a little girl that got sent from home to home over and over again. She said that she is a fat hippo.

I feel bad that this can happen in real life and that kids have to go through being sent from foster home to foster home, over and over again. I would never want to have to walk in Gilly’s shoes in my life. One of my best friends from the day I was born was going though a lot. When she was one, her parents got divorced and she stayed with her mom and went with her dad on the weekends. It is now 2017 and she's eleven. Her mom had another baby with a different guy. Her mom  now sees her on the weekends. My friend that's 11 is now with her dad. I don't get to see her as much any more.
