Paper Towns by John Green

Paper Towns by John Green is a book about a boy named Quentin Jacobsen (Q) who has a crush on an adventurous girl named Margo Roth Spiegelman. One night Margo climbs through Quentin's bedroom window to get Q to follow her so she can get revenge on her cheating boyfriend. After their all-nighter of revenge Q returns to his high school to find that Margo left the Paper Towns and has left behind clues for Q and his friends to follow. Will Margo ever be found?
I really loved this book. John Green is a really good author. I suggest if you like to read novels you should check out John Green's books. I really like realistic fiction and all of John Green’s are realistic fiction. I also like novels. My favorite part of this book is when Q and Margo go off and have their night of revenge.

Jake and Lily by Jerry Spinelli

Jake and Lily by Jerry Spinelli is about two twins that have a special connection. For example, whenever they would play hide and seek they always knew where the other one was. Also every time it was their birthday they woke up at the train station with the smell of pickles. I can explain why later, but when their birthday was coming up Lily hoped they would wake up in the train station again because she feels they have been drifting apart. Since Jake has lots of friends now, Lily thinks they're going to lose their special connection. Jake is friends with a boy that lives in their neighborhood, the one that Lily hates. When their papa moves into a house near them, he helps Lily try to find a ‘’life’’.

I really liked this book a lot. Once I started reading it, I have to say I could not stop. Its very interesting and amusing to read. My favorite part was the ending because it makes everything better about the whole book. This book is all about family and friends and I would recommend this book to almost anyone that likes books that are about family and friends!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K Rowling

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K Rowling is one of the best books I've ever read. Harry Potter is not a normal boy. He is a wizard. His parents died when he was a one year old by the hand of Lord Voldemort. Harry’s mom gave up her life to save Harry, so when Voldemort tried to kill Harry it backfired. Now he is trying to find horcruxes to defeat Voldemort. Read the book to find out what happens.

This book reminds me that everything is not always going to be easy, but don’t give up. If you don’t try you’ll never succeed. This book reminds me that life is full of mistakes. If you don’t admit your mistakes you may lose something or someone.

Dear Dumb Diary, Let’s Pretend This Never Happened by Jim Benton

Dear Dumb Diary, Let’s Pretend This Never Happened is written by Jim Benton. Jamey has her own diary about her life and she has her good days and her bad days. She writes everything down at school, and at home. She writes about her friends, her mom and her dad too. There is this girl, her name is Angeline. Jamey thinks she is a bad person, but maybe she is not, maybe she is really nice. Read to find out.

It is a very good book and that is why I am writing about it. Jamey likes school a lot and I like school too. I think it is very fun because you get to learn something new every day. It can be fun, if you make it fun. I like school because you learn something new every day and when you go to school, you get to see your friends every day.

Fish in a Tree by Lynda Mullaly Hunt

Fish in a Tree is written by Lynda Mullaly Hunt. Fish in a Tree is about a girl named Ally with dyslexia. She has trouble learning in school and gets picked on because of it. A girl named Shay in her class bullies Ally. Then a new teacher comes to class and everything changes for Ally.

One thing we liked about the book was the close friendship that develops between Ally and her new friends. We also like how Ally learns to be strong. In the book Wonder, which we also read as a class, August was also bullied because of his disability. They both had to overcome their fear and stand up to the bully.

Big Nate Strikes Again by Lincoln Peirce

In Big Nate Strikes Again by Lincoln Peirce, Nate, Teddy, and Francis all got assigned a project in their class. They hope to be together, but only Teddy and Francis got paired up together. Nate got paired up with Gina who is his ¨archenemy¨. He gets in trouble and was forced to go to the library but the librarian made him work and he actually ended up doing his part of the the project.
I really liked this book because it was very funny and interesting. For instance, Nate thought a baby picture was his crush, but it turns out it was Gina. His friends were teasing him because he said he would know that face anywhere. In my life at school I always have to work with people I don't like or don’t work well with, but I just try my best and try to get along with them.

Big Nate Strikes Again is a book written by Lincoln Peirce. I thought it was an amazing book with funny conversations. It is about a boy named Nate that goes to a school with his best friends Francis, and Teddy. One day the Fleece Ball signup results were taped on the wall. When they looked at it they realized that they had a perfect team, but one specific player made Nate almost jump out of his skin. His school enemy…. Gina!!!!

This book reminds me of my life a bit because there’s always that one person that thinks they’re better just like Gina. So Nate reminds me of myself because I’m not the best when it comes  to school subjects like math, social studies, and ELA. Nate also reminds me of myself with the respect that he loves fun subjects like art.

What will Nate do to save his team? Find out by reading Big Nate Strikes Again!!!

Seven Wonders the Colossus Rises by Peter Lerangis is about an 11 year old kid named Jack who ends up in an unusual hospital in the middle of nowhere. Doctors say that he has a certain amount of time to live because of a reason I’m not going to spoil. Jack meets people that also have a short amount of time to live. Together they have to find items that could potentially save them.

I really like this book because it is entertaining. It is also action packed and full of interesting parts about survival and mystery. The character Jack is very smart and there is some tension between the characters.  I connect to Jack in this way. Jack is smart and can make friends easily and can think in ways that some people can’t.

Funny Business edited by Jon Scieszka

Funny Business is a great book for anyone looking for a good laugh. It has tons of funny stories to entertain anyone, like a murderous turkey, a super hero school, or an alien ghost possessed biker that stole a kid’s room. I forgot to mention that it has a lot of different authors, so I can only really mention the editor, Jon Scieszka. In many ways it is an extremely funny and entertaining book.

I can relate to many of the stories in the book because they are stories about people doing stupid things with their friends, and I do a lot of stupid things with my friends. I’d gladly recommend this book to anyone with a sense of humor. Now GO AND READ IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Big Nate and Friends by Lincoln Peirce is a great book full of humor and adventure. If you like comics, then this is the book for you. Nate is a boy in middle school and is on a wild adventure with his friends, Teddy and Francis. Nate wants to sell wall hangings but Arthur is selling more.  Nate has a huge ego, and thinks everything is about him. Nate is also supposedly the leader of his small group of friends. He hates school and the social studies teacher, Mrs Godfrey. Teddy is like Nate a bit, he also doesn't like school, but then again who does? He doesn’t have a huge ego like Nate though. Francis is very smart and likes to go to school and get good grades, unlike Teddy and Nate. So if you're looking for a funny book to read that has comics then this is the book for you and I suggest you read this.

I thought the book was funny and had its moments. My favorite part was when Nate went to a school meeting and he was a reporter for the school paper. He fell asleep so someone else saw him and wrote in the paper “Reporter from p.s 38 falls asleep during meeting” and I thought that was funny. You should definitely read the book.

Middle School: My Brother Is a Big Fat Liar by James Patterson

Middle School: My Brother Is a Big Fat Liar by James Patterson, is a story about a girl named Georgia’s, 6th grade school year. Her brother Rafe had bullies that used to bother him, but now bully Georgia. So a girl named Rhonda mentors her so she can stand up to the bullies and have a good middle school childhood. Read to find out how her year was. Have fun reading this book!

I thought this was a great book. I have a few connections. I have an older brother. He warned me about middle school and he said it is going to be a bad year. Although I am now having a good year, I still wonder. Also, when I was in second or third grade instead, of being bullied I had a stuttering problem and I got called names because I stuttered. I got a reading mentor and fluency mentor, so I can speak more fluently. Now I can speak with more fluency, but I sometimes mess up with my words, but I don’t really care. Those are my personal connections with this book. Now, go read the book!

He forgets his homework and gets detention. Before the school year starts, Rafe and his mom go to his school to talk with the principals. What I like best about the story is when Rafe joins the flag football team because Rafe NEVER liked sports. My sister at school gets bullied sometimes. She always tells her teachers about it, and the person who does it, gets in trouble. Will they let Rafe in the school? Read it to find out.

A gymnast ghost keeps talking to her and Kendall is trying to help her move on. You would think it’s easy, but it isn’t when you're in a relationship. Her dad thought it was just a faze that she was going through, but she still sees them and it’s affecting her relationship with her friends and the boy she likes. When a ghost you can see starts coming into your school and your home, it gets pretty annoying. Nobody knows she can communicate with ghosts and she is trying to keep it a secret. You should totally read this book and find out how she keeps her friends together while helping a ghost.
