Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

In the book Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick, Nora Grey's life is far from perfect. Nora had an attempt on her life yet survived which wasn’t a pleasant thing to go through. She had gained a guardian angel, but sadly her guardian angel was far from angelic, matter of fact quite devil-ish. The guardian angel named Patch had been given a second chance with life, while still not being human or being able to be seen. I personally believe that this book is good for most ages above 9-10 while it all depends on your mental age and how well you can take 18+ themes or themes of violence. Other than that, it’s truly an amazing book. 

I can relate with the character Nora Grey, as I believe she would be a great friend who wouldn’t talk about someone behind their back unless given a good reason, which I believe is outstanding friend material. This book would be the romance and horror category of books, although it rarely states anything truly in the horror category, even though there is gore and topics of such. Some parts of the book remind me of a few of the goosebumps series.

Silver Eyes by Kira Breed-Wrisley and Scott Cawthon

One event in this book, Silver Eyes by Kira Breed-Wrisley and Scott Cawthon, is when Dave leaves town looking fat. Then Dave comes back looking skinny with scratch marks all over his body. The reason this happened is because Dave got in the spring bonnie suit taking Charlie’s brother Sammy and he was never seen again. That’s when Dave left town and came back with marks but he got the marks from the spring bonnie suit: a spring lock suit is a wearable animatronic suit that spring locks the animatronic in place so you could get in, but if the spring locks come loose you can die. Dave wore the spring bonnie suit causing a malfunction and was spring locked and nearly died. The reason why he used the suit was to lure kids and murder them in the back room because the animatronics were damaged at Freddy Fazbear’s pizza and used the kids’ bodies to repair the animatronics and now the kids are haunting the animatronics and hunting Dave in Freddy’s because he’s the night guard.

I like this book because it’s based off my favorite thing FNAF a horror game. This is also a book that is about a mystery and I like mystery books.  I also like horror because of all the hype.

The Night Gardener by Jonathan Auxier

The Night Gardener by Jonathan Auxier is a book that may just come back to haunt you. It is one of the 2016 RICBA nominees. The author also wrote Peter Nimble and His Fantastic Eyes. The Night Gardener is the story of Molly and Kip, two Irish children adrift in England. Molly, as the older sibling feels the responsibility of taking care of her disabled younger brother. She has found work for them at the home of the Windsors, Molly will work as a maid and Kip as the gardener. What they find when they get to the Windsor home is not what they expected. The Windsor family members are pale and gaunt. There seems to be something wrong with them. A giant tree grows next to the house and it's roots are everywhere, even in the very walls of the house. Is the tree magic? Is it good or evil? Late at night, when you're trying to sleep and you hear the rustle of leaves on the wind you'll think of this book. Don't say I didn't warn you!

Into the dark by R.L. Stein

Do you like bone chilling horror stories??  If you said yes, then Into the dark by R.L. Stein is a book for you.  Paulette, a blind teen girl falls in love with Brad Jones.  Paulette’s friends, Johanna and Emily, find out Brad is a secret robber, but Paulette does not believe them.  All throughout the story some weird things happen to Paulette and her friends try to explain to her it was Brad, but she still does not believe them.  After a while Brad starts to act weird and Paulette starts to believe what her friends said.  Has her love for Brad put her in danger?  You will have to read the book to find out…If you read this book you won’t regret it!  Hope you enjoyed!

Asylum by Madeline Roux

Asylum, by Madeline Roux, is a wonderfully scary book. Dan, Abby, and Jordan meet each other at a summer program at New Hampshire College, but unfortunately, the dorms are being redone. The replacement dorms are in an old, abandoned asylum called Brookline. Abby decides to go exploring in the closed off main office and drags the boys with her. This is where the mystery starts to unfold. What happens next I shall not tell you, you must read the book to find out.

I guarantee that you will love the photos the author includes. They add a more realistic feel to the book. The photos make the book scarier just like Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. If you love scary mystery books you will love this book.  (This book is not in our school library.  It is recommended for grades 7-10, but if you check with your parents you can get it at the public library.)

More Bones: Scary stories from around the world by Arielle North Olson & Howard Schwartz has a short story about a small Kingdom placed in Hawaii. The main characters in this story are the Rainbow Maiden, the King, and a boy named Mahana.  There are scarier, exiting stories to creep you out and to keep your heart pounding in this exiting book.  If you like scary, horror, short stories this is the book for you.  And if you like this book, also try Ask the Bones, but remember you don’t always get what you wish for.  Read this book to find out more.

The Chilling Hour by Collin McDonald

Do you like twisted suspense stories that chill your bones?  Or stories that aren't what they seem?  Then I think The Chilling Hour by Collin McDonald is the right book for you.  In The Chilling Hour there are spooky, warped, thrilling short stories that make you scream.  I like this book because you don’t know where the plot is going to end.  Also because when I read this book the author hooked me by using dialogue.  In one of the stories in this book there’s a family of four on vacation stuck in a blizzard waiting for help.  Will they get out in time before the avalanche hits?  And are they lucky they met a guy named death?  I don’t know!  You find out!
