The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo

Today I will be sharing with you The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo. The Tale of Despereaux is a very unique book. It is about a mouse and a rat that both want to get to the light. The rat is supposed to be in the darkness (the dungeon), but is hoping to get to the light (upstairs in the castle). Then he falls in a soup and almost gets caught, but runs back down to the darkness. On the other hand, Despereaux, the mouse breaks the rules by talking to a human princess and gets put in the dungeon darkness. This mouse loves to listen to music and stories. The Princess Pea gets put in the darkness by the vengeful rat. Will all three of them work together to get out?

I liked this book because I like animals. I also hate it when animals are hurt or when they are endangered. I feel like this book is also cool and has some new words that I did not know. The author, Kate DiCamillo, is also my favorite author and this is one of my favorite books by her.

The Witches by Roald Dahl

The Witches by Roald Dahl is a fiction and fairly tale. There are a lot of witches and they dress up as humans.  They turn little kids into… something.   I’m not going to say what,  so it can be a surprise  for you.   I love a book that has fairy tales and this is a good one for a sixth grader.  You could go on the author’s website by clicking on the title above.

The Christmas Rat by Avi

The Christmas Rat by Avi is a really good book.  It is also unique.  Eric, Anje, and the Christmas Rat are the main characters in the story.  I like them because the author made them very realistic.  This book is very funny and entertaining.  The theme is about Christmas vacation, and Eric and Anje fight over killing and keeping the rat alive.  Anje wants it dead by Christmas Day, but Eric is trying to keep it alive so he can let it outside for fresh air and to be free.  I think you should read this book because it’s really funny, and it’s a really good book.  It’s one of those books that when you read it, you never want to stop reading it!!
