The Throne of Fire by Rick Riordan

I love Rick Riordan’s new book The Throne of Fire.  It won't disappoint anyone who has read any other of Rick Riordan’s books.  The characters, Carter and Sadie, are so realistic with all their hate, love, and self-doubt.  Unlike other books, this takes place all over the world. They are fighting against Apophis, the chaos snake, and his evil minions.  Also they have a few days time to find the three parts of the book of Ra, wake Ra, and repeat the day cycle.  I wound recommend this book to every Rick Riordan fan and action fan alike!

The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan

The Red Pyramid is written by Rick Riordan.  Rick Riordan also wrote the Percy Jackson series.  The main characters are Sadie and Carter Kane.  They are both teenagers and they found out that they have magic powers . They came from London to New York on a magic boat.  Their dad gets captured by the Egyptian god of destruction.  I think the book is very entertaining and if you're interested in myths I think you would like this book.  Will they save their dad?

Emily's Fortune by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor

Emily’s Fortune by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor is a book about a girl named Emily who is trying to get to a town called Redbud.  The only reason why she even wants to go to Redbud is because both of her parents died and she doesn’t want to go with her Uncle Victor.  The only time Emily met her uncle, he asked her mom for money and left.  Emily travels with her turtle, Rufus.  Along the way, Emily meets a boy named Jackson, who ends up coming along with Emily on their very exciting journey.  One day, Emily and Jackson were walking along; they came across a piece of paper nailed to the wall. It said that Emily was worth ten million dollars!!!  Read on to find out if Uncle Victor finally catches Emily.  I would recommend this book to readers who like detailed action books. It’s also a RICBA nominee for 2012.  You can find this book in the school library.

The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

Maybe by now you've all seen the movie,  but have you read the book?  How do you think the book and the movie compared?  And the best question is, how would you feel if you found out you were a descendant of the gods of Olympus?  Personally, I thoroughly enjoyed this book about a young boy on a quest across the United States.  I loved the mixture of fantasy and adventure, as Percy fought off fantastical creatures and learned about himself in the process.  The movie had a hard time competing with the images I created in my own mind as I read, but I still liked it too. Now I want to hear what you think!

Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan is a great book if you like action packed books. It's all about a group of kids that have one parent that is a god, and they fight all sorts of monsters.  But the problem in the story is that one of Percy's friends turns on him. So Percy and his friends have to try and defeat him and his army in battle.

 

I thought that this was a good book because when Percy Jackson goes to camp with his friends, it reminded me of when I go camping with my friends. We also get in trouble like Percy and his friends. I think this is a great book, and I recommend this book for grades 3-6.
