The Great Gilly Hopkins by Katherine Paterson

The Great Gilly Hopkins by Katherine Paterson, is a book about  a little girl that got sent from home to home over and over again. Finally Gilly goes to a foster home and the foster mom’s name is Mrs. Trotter. She has another foster boy there. His name is William Ernest. Gilley hates the foster mom. She said that she is a fat hippo.

I feel bad that this can happen in real life and that kids have to go through being sent from foster home to foster home, over and over again. I would never want to have to walk in Gilly’s shoes in my life. One of my best friends from the day I was born was going though a lot. When she was one, her parents got divorced and she stayed with her mom and went with her dad on the weekends. It is now 2017 and she's eleven. Her mom had another baby with a different guy. Her mom  now sees her on the weekends. My friend that's 11 is now with her dad. I don't get to see her as much any more.

Roof Toppers by Katherine Rundell

The book I’m reviewing is Roof Toppers by Katherine Rundell.  The main characters in the story are Sophie and Charles.  They are looking for Sophie’s mom because Sophie was found in a shipwreck and she wants to know where her mother is.  Charles is her Guardian, throughout the storyhe is helping Sophie.  Also there is one last character, and it’s the Child Services Organization.  They are the big meanies.  They are trying to take Sophie away because she isn’t supposed to be raised like a “little boy”. They say this because she prefers jeans over skirts and they say a girl in Britain shouldn’t be raised like that.  While Sophie is being taken away from the Child Services Organization she is not giving up on finding her mother.  When I read that the Child Services Organization was going to take Sophie away from Charles, I started to cry because it reminds me of when my best friend moved to a different state.  This story plays with your emotions.  Also the story tells you to never give up.  I recommend this book to people who like adventure and Realistic Fiction.  I would also recommend it because it’s unique and the family has a strong bond.

Among The Betrayed by Margaret Peterson Haddix

The book Among The Betrayed by Margaret Peterson Haddix is a very interesting and adventurous book. This book is science fiction. The main characters are Nina, Matthias, Percy and Alia. The kids are 13, 10, 9 and 6 years old.  Nina is the oldest child in the book. The main settings are the woods and jail. This story is about four children.  In this future world families are only allowed to have two children, if you are a third child in the family and you get caught, you can get taken away by the population police. The mood in this story is very sad, but it’s very interesting what the kids do. I would recommend this book to people that like adventure.
